Looping Through an Array<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Arrays are great for storing multiple values, and to make the most out of them, you’ll often want to loop through all the elements. The for<\/code> loop is a classic way to do this. By using the array’s length<\/code> property, you can ensure your loop runs the correct number of times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here’s an example that prints all elements in the vehicles<\/code> array:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

String[] vehicles = {"Toyota", "Honda", "Chevy", "Mazda"};\nfor (int index = 0; index < vehicles.length; index++) {\n  System.out.println(vehicles[index]);\n}<\/pre><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Looping Through an Array with For-Each<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
There’s also a “for-each” loop, which is designed specifically for iterating over arrays and collections. It’s more concise and easier to read compared to the traditional for<\/code> loop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The syntax looks like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
for (type variable : arrayName) {\n  \/\/ code block to be executed\n}<\/pre><\/div>\n\n\n\n
And here\u2019s an example using a for-each<\/code> loop to print all elements in the vehicles<\/code> array:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
String[] vehicles = {"Toyota", "Honda", "Chevy", "Mazda"};\nfor (String vehicle : vehicles) {\n  System.out.println(vehicle);\n}<\/pre><\/div>\n\n\n\n
The code above reads as “for each String<\/code> element (called vehicle<\/code>) in the vehicles<\/code> array, print out the value of vehicle<\/code>.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Comparing For Loop and For-Each Loop<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
When you compare the for<\/code> loop with the for-each<\/code> loop, you’ll notice that the for-each<\/code> method is more straightforward to write, doesn’t require a counter (using the length<\/code> property), and is generally more readable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
