In Go<\/strong>, the else if<\/code> statement is used to introduce additional conditions to be evaluated after the initial condition (if<\/code>) has been determined to be false. This allows for multiple levels of decision-making within your program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Syntax<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The syntax for the else if<\/code> statement in Go is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Example 1: Determining Time of Day<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Here\u2019s how the else if<\/code> statement can be used to determine the appropriate greeting based on the time of day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Example 2: Comparing Motorcycle Speeds<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Let’s use motorcycle brands for a fun example. Here, we compare the speeds of different motorcycles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • The first condition checks whether Ducati\u2019s speed is greater than Yamaha\u2019s.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • If false, the else if<\/code> statement evaluates whether Ducati\u2019s speed is greater than Honda\u2019s.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • If both conditions are false, the else<\/code> block executes, indicating that Ducati and Honda have the same speed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
    Result:<\/strong> Since ducatiSpeed<\/code> and hondaSpeed<\/code> are both 140<\/code>, the program prints “Ducati is tied with Honda.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    Important Behavior of else if<\/code><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    If multiple conditions in the if<\/code> and else if<\/code> statements are true, only the first true condition is executed. For example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
